Lost Memories: Ghosts of the Past 2nd Devlog


Hello guys, 

I am glad to announce you that after the pause that i had ( lost almost the whole project data due to PC problems ) i am finally back working on the project. This dev post will be very short and on point. 
Things that i have added or fixed:
- The ai is fixed and it now reacts to footsteps and to the actions of other AI's

- Added 3 new weapons, each with it's own unique sight ( a holographic scope and an acog scope ). They are fully functional, but i just need to tweak the recoil to be unique for every weapon. 

- Added voice-overs ( created with Replica AI, because my budget is really limited ).

- Added logic for friendly fire for the scenarios where the player has a weapon eqquiped near friendlies.

- Added stable loading and save system

- Added stable loading and save sytem for the player position in the world, for the audio, video and controls settings. 

- Fully functional Main Menu with Controls, video and audio settings.

- Reworked the story missions so there will be a chronological playthrough ( atm there are 4 areas, First mission is an introduction mission, second one is where the tutorial occurs, third one is the main base where the player will customize his loadout and begin the next mission and the actual mission. 

- Reworked the lighting for the levels ( this is still work in progress based on player feedback. )

- Reworked the camera of the character so that it will not clip with the body. 

- Added shadow for the head of the character 

- Reworked the aim down sights camera and it is now fully functional

- Reworked the player's HUD 

- Reworked the aiming animation so it will stay in place in order to be easier to aim at enemies

- Added broken HUD for when the player has low hp and added repairing HUD post process until the Player's health reaches 100%

- Added blood splatters for enemies and player

- Fixed the characters die animation ( for player and AI ) to be physics animation based on the bullet impact. 

- Added different audio for the AI ( Fear like coms ) 

- Added transportaion ship 

- Added audio logs that are accessed through an unlock mini game ( to better understand the story and what the character and why it is doing it ) 

- Added scan ability in order to find important objects in the world ( audio logs, magazines for weapons, triggers for opening dors, etc.) 

- Added fall damage 

- Added different logic for loading system ( for example if the player loads the game after he has died, an message appears with simulation failed, to give the impression that the player has not died, but he just failed a simulation of what is comming )

What i want to add until the release of the demo:

- Nightvision that will be used after a certain point in story has been reached

- Drone to interact with different objects that the player can't reach

- External factors that affects the gameplay : Heat damage, cold damage, radiation damage. This type of damage will affect the player's suit energy and it will be forced to detour from the main route. 

- Cycle of night and day on different maps 

- Completing the main story mission ( adding voice overs, objectives logic ) 

- Boss fight near the end of the mission ( The boss will be a mech that will act much like other ai's but will deal radial damage ). The boss is an work in progress

- Adding more sound effects to increase the atmosphere. 

- Add zombie like enemies ( cyber zombies ) 

- Adding Rail Gun in order to be much easier to defeat the boss 

- Add better transitions between levels. 

What i will try to add but i do not think that i will succeed: 

- Cover logic for the AI

- New weapon animations ( reload ) 

- New character animations
